Freshman Retreat

retreat16.jpgThe Freshman Retreat at Catawba College is a voluntary event for incoming freshmen (including early college students) and transfers with less than 18 credit hours. However, this is an event you will not want to miss!

This retreat will introduce you to the Catawba family, orient you to college life, and help you reflect on what you feel your vocational calling may be.

About the Retreats

The Purpose:
Catawba's Freshman Retreats provide an opportunity for the members of the Class of 2023 to get to know their classmates and some members of the faculty and staff prior to the start of the hectic activity of orientation and the beginning of classes.

The retreat is designed to help freshmen gain a better understanding of the college experience and be successful. Members of the Retreat Leadership Corps will also be on-hand to answer questions you may have from an upperclassman’s point-of-view. Students are given guidance in discovering who they are and how this understanding can lead to discussions about vocation and career.

Goals of the Retreat:

    • Vocational discernment
    • Introspection on personal values
    • Getting to know others
    • Learning how to be successful in college

The Catawba College Freshman Retreat uses a traditional retreat format, with emphasis upon getting to know one another and sessions to help learn about college life, how to be successful in college and how to prepare for the college experience. Past activities include visiting the N.C. Zoo, volleyball, frisbee golf, corn hole and other fun opportunities. And that's not all - we have even more fun activities planned for this year!

Finally, these retreats are fun!  Why go to the Freshman Retreat?
